Kaleidoscope’s managing director is a qualified teacher and trainer with over twenty year’s experience and in 1990 we opened our first nursery in Acomb, York. This soon established itself as one of the leading day nurseries in the City and led to a second nursery at the college of York St John.
Over the next sixteen years Kaleidoscope has gradually increased the number of nursery places offered across West Yorkshire. January 2001 saw the opening of our out of school club at Park Grove School in York and the launch of our KOOSH name (Kaleidoscope Out Of School Hours).
Kaleidoscope became a Limited Company in March 2002 and in March 2003 we opened our Head Office and nursery in Gildersome, Leeds. In April 2003, Kaleidoscope bought Acorn Nursery School, situated off Bootham, York. Head Office relocated to a separate office in Morley in September 2004. In May 2005, under the Government’s extended schools initiative, Kaleidoscope tendered for the provision of KOOSH clubs at two Leeds primary schools and was awarded both contracts.
Lower Wortley Primary KOOSH club opened in September 2005 and Hill Top Primary KOOSH club opened in March 2006. Our Gildersome Nursery was extended to 48 places in 2006 and the KOOSH Club relocated to Gildersome Primary School. In addition, we operate a 50 place KOOSH Club at Burley Children’s Centre in Leeds, serving both Kirkstall Valley and Burley St Matthias Primary Schools. Kaleidoscope now offers 490 Nursery and KOOSH places at ten sites across Leeds and York, employing 110+ full and part time staff and we are still expanding.
