We know that no-one can care for your child like you can but we will look after your child as you want us to in a home from home environment.

This can be a very anxious time for all parents, especially first time parents so we spend a lot of time getting to know you and your child before the first day at nursery.  We place special emphasis on the settling in visits and will arrange a home visit if you wish so you feel at ease showing us your child’s likes/dislikes and usual routine.

Home visits really help babies and children to get to know key people in their own familiar environment and greatly support them in settling into nursery.

For babies, the daily diaries are especially important as they can give us the extra information that you may not have time to tell us when you arrive in the morning.  We can also tell you all the details of how your child has eaten, slept, and played through the day as well as nappy details!  You can ring us at any time if you need to because we want to make your return to work as smooth as possible.

Figures suggest that around 50% of all working mums return to work within a year of their child’s birth and an additional 25% return within 5 years.  Each employer will have their own policy on maternity leave, pay and rights at work during pregnancy but they must offer the statutory minimum as set out in Government guidelines.  As of April 1st 2007 an employed woman can take up to 26 weeks Ordinary Maternity Leave (OML) and up to 26 weeks Additional Maternity Leave (AML), making one year in total.  Fathers are also eligible to take paternity leave if they choose to.  Contact your employer for details of what pay and rights you may expect during your maternity leave or look in the section on working parents at www.direct.gov.uk.
