KOOSH Clubs - Who we are and what we do.

KOOSH clubs facilitate children's creative, imaginative and fantasy play through provision of quality settings, equipment and carefully selected staff. Playworkers at KOOSH have the unique opportunity to assist children with their learning through play. All children need to be able to play in a safe environment without adult interference. Equally, they sometimes ask for or indicate the need for adult participation and the role of the playworker is to know when and when not to join in.

Through fantasy role-play we are providing the means for children to work through problems and developmental issues in an experimental way. The children can change the situation where they wish and in their world anything is possible. Through trips out and regular visits we aim to broaden horizons and offer further opportunities for knowledge and curiousity.

We respect the parent/carer as the primary person in the child's life and aim to work with parents to help children develop to their full potential. At all times we are willing to discuss issues concerning the children in our care whilst respecting the age, stage of development and life changes of the child. We will treat all children as individuals and try to meet a wide variety of differing needs through our inclusion policy. We support children's rights and aim to uphold equality of opportunity through all our policies and actions.

We want the children to feel ownership of their "club" and will assist them in setting their own acceptable rules and standards of behaviour. We aim to find ways forward to assist children in managing their own behaviour, setting sensible and achievable goals and boundaries, thus helping them to develop at their own pace.

Above all, we want children at KOOSH to enjoy, have fun and make friends in a safe and well equipped environment.
