Kaleidoscope Gildersome originally opened as a 24 place out of school club for children aged 4-11 in March 2003 and places filled quickly. In September 2003, we extended our registration to provide full day care and wrap around care for children from 3-5 years. The Gildersome building was extended to double the size in 2006 and is now registered as a 48 place full Day Care Nursery for children 0-5. The KOOSH Club is now situated in the premises of Gildersome Primary School.
The Gildersome Nursery is fully registered with OFSTED. Downstairs there are specialist rooms for young babies and toddlers. We have created a bright and homely environment with specialist areas for cuddles, rest, quiet play and creative and sensory play. Upstairs, our pre school room allows the children plenty of opportunities to learn through play with an entirely child centered curriculum delivered by qualified pre school trained staff. Every child matters to us and at Kaleidoscope Gildersome we ensure that children are treated holistically where they can learn to explore and investigate. Because we are a small setting we get to know your child on a one-to-one basis and we put great emphasis on catering for the needs of the individual child, regardless of chronological age and development. As part of living in a multi cultural society we celebrate many festivals during the year and have established links with local communities, especially Gildersome Primary School which is awaiting designation as a Children’s Centre. We provide wrap around care for Gildersome Primary School, Birchfield Primary School and Drighlington Primary School.
Food and Drink
We provide milk and a nutritious snack mid morning and with a light tea mid afternoon. Please refer to the snack menu on display in the Nursery. We also provide a nutritious, healthy two course lunch for children who attend the Nursery for the full day. Lunch is optional for half day. |
| We offer full day care from 8am to 6pm. Children can take any combination of places, from a minimum of 2 sessions up to five full days. However, many of our 3 year olds attend either 5 mornings or 5 afternoons, using the free Nursery Education Grant to contribute to fees.
Gildersome KOOSH Club
Our Gildersome KOOSH Club is now based permanently at Gildersome Primary School where we can pick up children directly from the classroom and can take advantage of the school grounds for outdoor play. We also drop off and pick up from Birchfield Primary School and Drighlington Primary School.
At all our sites we want to be part of the community and Kaleidoscope sponsors the local under 8s Gildersome Spurs football team - many of the children who attend KOOSH are part of the team! The emphasis here is on recreation as children want to relax or play after a busy school day. Our holiday club is proving very popular with all children up to the age of 11. We guarantee a fun filled experience whenever school is closed, except Bank Holidays and one week at Christmas. |
