Kaleidoscope's First nursery, established in York
and registered with Ofsted to provide full day care,
out of school and holiday care for children aged
3 months to 11 years.
The nursery opened in 1991 and
relocated to temporary premises in 2003, whilst
we awaited the completion of our brand new, purpose
built Neighbourhood Nursery. We finally moved
in to our beautiful building in October 2004 and
the new building provides 83 nursery places and
14+ KOOSH club places. Unusually, the school nursery
is housed in the same building so parents have
plenty of choice as to where their child receives
nursery education and we are ideally placed to
provide wraparound care.
The nursery is a large, single
storey, detached building set in the grounds of
Westfield Primary Community School. There is a
self contained baby unit with its own milk kitchen
and 2 separate nursery rooms (one of which is
round) for 2-5 year olds. All the nursery rooms
lead out to the well equipped outdoor areas so
children can choose inddor or outdoor play at
all times. There is a sensory room and sensory
garden, which is currently being developed by
Leeds Metropolitan University.
The interior of the nursery
is bright, colourful and spacious, yet warm and
welcoming to create an environment where children
can flourish, make friends and be happy. There
is a Parents room and they are encouraged to join
in with nursery activities by sharing their expertise
with the children!
